Damien K. Harris is a native Washingtonian who graduated from the historic Duke Ellington School of the Arts where he studied ballet under the tutelage of Ms. Lynn Welters. After graduating from Ellington, Mr. Harris went on to study Classical Ballet Performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Upon graduating with his Bachelors of Fine Arts from UARTS, Damien began his teaching career as an elementary school teacher in the District of Columbia Public School System where he taught second grade for six years before transitioning to the DC Public Charter School System where he continued his teaching career and eventually moved into Educational Leadership. In 2010, Mr. Harris graduated from George Mason University with Masters of Education degree. Having graduated at the top of his class, Damien was afforded an opportunity to further his studies at the world- renowned Oxford University in Oxford, England where he focused on Educational and Developmental Psychology. Throughout his 16 years in the education field, Mr. Harris has held positions such as Classroom Teacher, Instructional and Data Coach, Director of Home and Community Partnerships, Assistant Principal and he currently serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at a local charter school. Damien currently resides in Washington DC and is exploring Ph.d programs to continue his education.
